DCM Citation reads as follows:- 1947 Private J Roberts, 5th Btn, S.Lancs.R (TF) (LG 30th June 1915). "For Conspicuous Gallantry and Devotion to Duty near Le Touquet in getting out of his reserve trench on his own initiative and going to the assistance of a man who had been wounded in No 1 trench. Private Roberts had to run about 80 Yards in daylight, and under heavy fire, to reach the man whom he bandaged, and remained with him until assistance arrived".
