1891 - 4 years old John J is living at 'Village', Rufford, Lancs with parents John (38), Amelia J (32) and three siblings: Evelyn (10), Amelia J (9), Edith A (1). 1901 - 14 years old John J is living at 14 Church Street, Ormskirk with parents John (47), Amelia J (42) and three siblings: Amelia J (19), Edith A (12), Wilfred H (1). The 1911 Census showed John, aged 24, living at 76, Talbot Street, St Helens with his wife Annie (23) and their three children Amelia (4), Ernest (3) and Annie (10 months). They had been married for 5 years and John was working as a Joiner. The census shows that John was born in Rufford, Lancs, and his wife and children were all born in St Helens.

John Eastham was a pre War Territorial, initially serving as Sapper 7633 before the renumbering of March 1917 gave him the new number shown above. He travelled to France on 8th August 1915. His service papers have not survived, According to an article in the St.Helens Advertiser and Reporter dated 1917, John was employed as a Joiner at Clockface Colliery before the war. He was killed in action by Shellfire.
