Also at the address is relative Joseph Anders (42). 1911 - Sees 17 years old 'Farm Labourer (agri)' Edward still living at Washway Lane, St Helens with his widowed mother Ann (61) and two siblings: Samuel (27), John (20). Also at the address are relative Joseph Anders (52) and boarder Thomas Griffiths (30).

Edward was the youngest of 9 children born to James and Ann Bromilow, who married at Christ Church, Eccleston on 13/6/1874. He was christened at St Mark's, North Rd on 14/10/1894 when he was 8 months old. In 1911 he was living in Washway Cotts, Windle working as a farm labourer, but he is listed as a former employee on the Pilkington's Roll of Honour in the Sheet Works. His brother William joined the 2/2 Bn West Lancs Regiment but was later transferred to 1/3 West Lancs Field Coy Royal Engineers. He spent the war engaged in defence works (a platelayer) in Egypt. He survived the war and only died in 1964 aged 86 years. Another brother Adam spent much of the war in France and was demobilised in 1919.He died, aged 53, in 1934.
