To France March 1916: sick from Oct 1916 onwards until returned to UK January. 1917 as under-aged. Transferred, to the 2/5th RWF March 1917. To France December 1917, posted 2nd RWF January 1918. Killed in action France & Flanders 22 April 1918, during the 38th Division's attack on Bouzincourt Ridge near Albert, Somme. Buried Bouzincourt Ridge Cemetery (no personal epitaph on stone).
Served in France a total of 2 years 336 days.
