From his Service Papers:- Attested St.Helens - 5th of September 1914. (aged 22 years and Five months) Height 5 feet 6 Inches, Weight, 142 Pounds. Passed as fit for service on 5th of September 1914. Character described as "good". 8th July 1916 - Wounded in the field. Died of his wounds on 9th July 1916. Awarded 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. His service medals despatched to 22 Lyon Street, St.Helens.
