Base: Elsham Woods, Lincolnshire. His crew had recently joined the squadron from the heavy bomber conversion unit and before joining operational sorties were flying a night navigational and bombing exercise to sharpen up their skills when, tragically their aircraft, an Avro Lancaster Mk III, recognition code UL-G2, serial number ND403, went missing without trace. He is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial. The Crew of ND403 were:- Pilot Officer J Parkinson, age 22, of Hoylake, Cheshire. Sergeant AF Raymond, age21, of Felsted. Flight Sergeant E Johnson, age 21, of Brighton. Sergeant GE Wilson, age 25, of Matlock, Derbyshire. Sergeant KC Mant, age 20, of Luton, Bedfordshire. Sergeant HH Dixon, age 33, of Rainhill, Lancashire. Sergeant A Eland, of Washington County Durham.
