On the 12/13th May 1944, Avro Lancaster Mark 3, (Serial number ND403) Took off on a training mission. Base: Elsham Woods, Lincolnshire.
His crew had recently joined the squadron from the heavy bomber conversion unit and before joining operational sorties were flying a night navigational and bombing exercise to sharpen up their skills when, tragically their aircraft, an Avro Lancaster Mk III, recognition code UL-G2, serial number ND403, went missing without trace. He is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial.
