On July 13, 1944, the aircraft crashed near North Dalton on the Yorkshire Wolds. The damage was assessed as Cat. E1/FA (indicating extensive damage), and the aircraft was officially struck off charge on July 24, 1944, ending its operational history. At 12.05hrs Halifax HR748 and (believed to have been) Halifax W1236 were flying in formation when a minor mid-air collision took place. Navigator - Sgt David Park RAFVR (1567907), aged 21. Bomb Aimer - F/Sgt Robert George Ambrose RAFVR (1395993). Aged 28. Died 14/7/1944. Buried Kelvedon Congregational Church Cemetery, Essex.
