MIA over Bay of Biscay May 30, 1943.
Was shot down on 30 May 1943 by German heavy fighters.
The entire crew of eight was killed in the incident. This included the pilot, Flight Sergeant Hector Vivian Frances Archer, who had previously survived the ditching of another
Liberator (LV341) in the Atlantic the year before. The attacking aircraft was likely a Ju 88 flown by Ofw Vincenz Giessuebel of 14/KG40.
