The [b]Glen Avon [/b]HMS was a Paddle Steamer built in 1912 by Ailsa Shipbuilding Company, Yard No 255, Engines by Ailsa SB Co, Troon for P. & A. Campbell Ltd, Bristol and was used for Bristol Channel Excursions. She was used in both World Wars as a Minesweeper but in May 1942 was redesignated as an anti aircraft ship. On war service, during a severe gale she sank at her moorings in Siene Bay, off the coast of Normandy.
