Wellington Ic R1701 of 101 Squadron Took off from RAF Oakington and failed to return from an operational flight over Berlin and was Last heard on W/T reporting an imminent ditching. The aircraft was believed to have been struck by lightning and then crashed into the boundary of Pigdon and Benridge Moor Farm's to the north west of Morpeth, Northumberland.
