Lancaster Mark III - serial Number JA 935 of 7 Squadron RAF. Operation Brunswick 14th/15th January 1944. Aircraft took off at 16:59 hrs from RAF Oakington in Cambridgeshire as part of a 498 strong bomber force with the target of the aircraft component facilities around the City of Brunswick. Being an important industrial area it was heavily defended by Flak and German Night Fighters. In all 38 aircraft were lost for only moderate target success. Pilot Officer Clegg's aircraft was intercepted by German night fighters and shot down. The crew: The Aircrew of Lancaster JA935 were very experienced with two holding the Distinguished Flying cross and WO Hallwood having been awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal for 91 Operational Missions.
