99 Squadron's Vickers Wellington I (L7803) bomber aircraft, with an aircrew of six, took off from RAF Newmarket for an air operation over Dinant, in Belgium. On 22nd May 1940 the plane is thought to have been hit by flak, resulting in its crashing near Belval (Ardennes), about 6 km WNW of Charleville-Mezieres in France, taking the lives of the entire crew. Crew as follows:- 39073 Flying Officer - John Phillip Dyer, D. F. C. - Pilot in 99 Squadron, Royal Air Force - 22nd May 1940, aged 27. 580791 Sergeant John Heaton Lawrenson, Observer in Royal Air Force. 518071 Leading Aircraftman Charles Robin Archibald Lovejoy, Air Gunner in Royal Air Force, aged 26. Son of Robin and Violet Alice Lovejoy; husband of Irene Ella Lovejoy, of Ilford, Essex. His headstone bears the inscription "To Us, Who Loved You And Lost You, Your Memory Will Live Through The Years" 629523 Aircraftman 1st Class Edward Morton, Wireless Operator in Royal Air Force. 632492 Aircraftman 1st Class Stanley Carter Ogilvie, Wireless Operator in Royal Air Force, aged 21. Son of James Hunter Ogilvie and Harriett Ogilvie, of West Didsbury, Manchester. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them" 39091 Flying Officer Owen Lloyd Williams, Pilot in Royal Air Force.
