Lancaster R5677 took off from RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire at 22;45 hrs to attack the town of Barmen - Wuppertal.
This location produced components for the German Aircraft Industry.
33 Allied bombers failed to return although there was no reports of German Night Fighters . Most seemed to have been the victims of Flak.
