RAF 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron; RAF Dunholme Lodge, Lincolnshire.
44 Squadron's Avro Lancaster (Registration DV329) aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off in the evening from RAF Dunholme Lodge for an air operation flight over Berlin. It is thought that DV329 was hit by flak which resulted in its crashing near Rasdorf, Germany, taking the lives of six members of the crew. The one airman who survived the crash was captured and imprisoned in a German PoW camp.
