Wife Mary E Fearnles (Leyland) born 22/11/1919 an Unpaid Domestic is living at 27 Holt Avenue, Billinge with father John Gee born 26/11/1881 Male Colliery Blacksmith and mother Elizabeth A Gee born 09/05/1872 an Unpaid Domestic.

Jack was the son of Paul and Mary Jane Leyl and of 439 Wigan Road, Bryn, and he was in the Army when he married Mary Ellen Gee of 27 Holt Avenue at St. Aidan's C.E. Church on the 29th of July 1939. They lived with Mary's family at 27 Holt Avenue and they had one child Helen Margaret, born on the 23rd of April 1940 and baptised on the 9th of June 1940 in St. Aidan's C.E. Church. Jack was an Army reservist, having served four years in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and was recalled at the outbreak of the war to join the East Lancashire Regiment. He was in the evacuation of Dunkirk, and while later serving in Normandy he was killed by accident on Monday the 10th of July 1944. He was 33 years old and is buried in the Brouay War Cemetery, Caloados, France, grave 111.G.10. His name is recorded on St. Aidan's C.E. Church Memorial.
