Air Marshall Barratt, AOC of the A.A.S.F. requested 2 Group to carry out a dawn raid on German AFV formations near Gembloux in Belgium. The focal point for the attack was a cross-roads in the town.
Twelve Blenheims of 82 Sqn. were sent with no fighter escort. All 12 Blenheims lost on this mission.
